Mystery in the darks—When Claudia Seymour, president of the historic Salmagundi Club (oldest art club in NYC, founded 1871), sat down to select the October 2008 calendar, she had no idea of the variety and excellence of the selection. “Some of the art is absolutely fabulous,” she said afterwards.
Looking at the n*des of October, one is drawn in, pulled, maybe even impelled to look at each image more closely—to click on the thumbnail and see the larger image behind it. There is a mystery and a romantic intimacy here. Some of the images appear easy to read in the thumbnail, but all invite closer inspection. “This is one of our most unusual and beautiful calendars, in the most positive and modern sense of the word,” said barebrush CEO, Ilene Skeen.
